Intro  As a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, I had the unique opportunity to engage in a project centered around the creation of a visual identity and promotional poster. The project's objective was to choose an intriguing fashion event and conceptualize a visual identity, promotional materials, and poster for the selected event. My choice was Oslo Runway, a prestigious fashion event that attracts Norway's foremost talents in the realms of fashion, lifestyle, art, and culture.

Visual identity promotional
poster & materials

The main objectives of this project were as follows:

Develop a visual identity that reflects the essence of Oslo Runway.
Design a promotional poster for the event that captures attention and encourages participation.

Step 1 Research & Analysis Before embarking on the design of the visual identity and poster, I conducted research on the history and significance of Oslo Runway. Understanding the philosophy of the event and its unique features was crucial for creating an appropriate visual identity. Also, I have been following fashion trends on the streets of Oslo.

Step 2 Creative Concept Based on the gathered information and inspiration, I developed several creative concepts and chose a concept that best embodied the spirit of Oslo Runway and Oslo city – a fusion of fashion, art, culture, and lifestyle.

Step 3 Designing the Visual Identity I determined a color scheme focusing on muted, elegant and extravagant colors such as you see below. Also defined a typography style that was modern but legible. In addition to the visual identity and poster, I set out to design a range of potential promotional materials. These materials included outdoor design, signs, tickets and passes, merchandise such as tote bags, T-shirts, bottle of water, glasses, notebooks and posters featuring the Oslo Runway visual identity. In creating these additional promotional materials, I wanted to create a comprehensive and consistent marketing campaign that would attract both local and international audiences to Oslo Runway.

Step 4 Poster The poster was to be a visual representation of the event. I incorporated the color scheme from the corporate identity.
I prominently placed the name of the event and the location and date. The poster was designed to convey the idea of pure design.

Step 5 Testing and customization The designed materials were tested on the target audience to assess their effectiveness and attention-getting qualities. Based on feedback from lecturers and other students, I made some minor adjustments.

Summary

My benefits  The project to create a visual identity and promotional poster for Oslo Runway was successful. My work not only reflected a passion for design, but also demonstrated the importance of understanding the philosophy of the event and its participants when designing promotional materials. This project was a great example of how student projects can contribute to inspiring designs in an educational context.
