Intro During my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łodź, I was privileged to delve into a deeply creative period marked by a wealth of original and thrilling projects. Among them, one of the most outstanding was this project, which I called Unveiled Art. The presented project was a student-led initiative, created for educational purposes, aimed at designing a new logo and promotional poster for the cultural event known as Oslo Open. Although this event is organized by an independent artistic organization, the project was not carried out for Oslo Open itself; instead, it served as an academic exercise.
Overview Oslo Open is an independent artist-run non-profit organization that has been hosting an annual cultural event since its establishment in 2000. The organization's primary mission is to bridge the gap between artists and the public by opening the doors to artists' studios for one weekend in April, inviting the public to explore the creative process, engage in workshops, and interact with artists. The event hosts approximately 400 artists, making it a significant cultural happening in Oslo, Norway.
Logo redesign and promotional poster design
Promotional Poster Design Crafting a promotional poster for the event that effectively communicates its essence.
Step 1 Firstly I conducted research on Oslo Open and its existing visual identity, even though the project was not intended for the organization itself. Based on this research, I devised a concept for a new logo. The chosen concept have included an element of open doors, symbolizing access to artists' studios. Modern colors and clean typography were used to ensure the logo's readability and appeal.
Step 2 I created a poster that could effectively capture the audience's attention. I utilized the concept of open doors, similar to the logo, to convey the event's essence. Vibrant colors were employed to enhance the sense of energy and openness associated with Oslo Open.
The poster featured essential event information, such as the date, location, and description.
Summary
My benefits Despite its indirect connection to Oslo Open, the student project contributed to the development of my design and creative skills. While it did not directly influence the actual event, presenting a new logo and poster as part of the project serve as a valuable example of a design exercise within the context of a real cultural event. Additional I had had the opportunity to showcase their ability to create compelling visual materials and understand the essence of promoting cultural events.
