A personal exploration of identity through typography, image and colour.
The project combines a photographic self-portrait with hand-drawn lettering based on words and associations connected to my personality. I explored how typography could become an expressive visual element rather than simply a way of presenting information.
The final composition brings together concept, typography and image into a distinctive visual statement.
Expressing Identity Through Letters and Words
Concept The concept was based on translating personal characteristics and associations into handwritten words and visual form. I explored the relationship between photography and typography, using the lettering to build, surround and interact with the portrait.
The lettering was created by hand and later refined digitally. Its imperfect and individual character became an important part of the visual language, giving the poster a personal and expressive quality.
Color Combination I explored different colour combinations and compositions to find the right balance between image, typography and negative space. The variations allowed me to test different moods while maintaining the expressive character of the concept.
Summary
Final outcome The poster was presented as part of my graduation project at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.
It combines photography, hand lettering and colour to create a personal typographic self-portrait, exploring how simple visual elements can come together to form a distinctive graphic language.
